March 15 Web Design Meeting – An Editor and a Sprite

After getting snowed out in February, we will be back on March 15 in the 9-10 hour with our previously-scheduled topic, “An Editor and a Sprite.”

We will continue working on the example of a tiled navigation menu posted in this article at Line25.com. The next step is to add the icons with a technique known as the CSS sprite. A sprite uses the CSS background property. We will explore how sprites work before adding one to our example to style the menu tiles.

We will also demo a free, open source editor called Brackets, available at the Brackets website. It is designed for editing HTML, CSS, and Javascript. We will give it a try as we work on our example.
