At the October meeting, we began with some follow-ups to the September meeting. We then started on the two techniques for layouts that we will be studying over the next couple of meetings, display:table and flexbox.
We reviewed HTML tables and the components that make up a well-formed table. Some examples at the PACS CodePen site. We also discussed the proper use of tables (see the W3C site for more) and the reasons for not using them for page layouts.
We then looked at is display:table and related properties. They allow the developer to use table concepts but in a style sheet. A list of those display values is in this article at the CSS Tricks site.
We finished up with a video on using these properties to lay out a webpage.
We will continue on this topic next month with some real examples.
