At the September meeting of the Web Design SIG, we started by reviewing the new lineup of PACS groups that are related to Web Design. We then talked about our plans for the Web Design SIG this season.
We took a look at the new website that was set up for the SIG. The site uses WordPress and the Weaver II theme. We demonstrated some changes made to the default theme by using Google fonts and by adding some CSS declarations. We also noted that the theme is responsive without losing information.
We discussed the SIG use of Mail Chimp to communicate with the members. There is a widget on the website for signing up to the mailing list.
We then noted a series of online classes being offered by Google on website accessibility. The classes are free, and the information is at Introduction to Web Accessibility. We will try to follow those sessions at future meetings.
We finished up by looking at a site called What Makes a Website Look Dated, and we will work this year to be sure we are not doing anything on that list.
