We covered two topics at this first meeting of the season.
We started by looking at sources for downloading free images that can be used on our sites. A good list is in this article from buffersocial. It is important to read the fine print at each site. Each location has its own particular set of requirements to use the images for free or to upgrade to a higher level. The higher level might let you use the images for commercial purposes or without attribution.
We then looked at CSS variables, a new concept that is currently only supported in Firefox 31 and above. We used a simple file to illustrate the difference between standard styling and using a variable. That file is available on this site in the Sample Files section. Download the file and open it in an editor to see how a variable works. For more on this topic, see CSS Variables Land in Firefox 31.
